Project Summary:

The Combined Transportation, Emergency and Communications Center (CTECC), supports the operations of critical emergency communications and transportation management for the Austin/Travis County area. The (CTECC) brings public safety and transportation systems, computer–aided dispatch, fire and police records management systems, the regional radio system, TXDOT Intelligent Transportation System, and public transit management under one roof for sharing data and resources.

The main video wall which rests on a platform that is 12 feet above the floor, consists of 48-50” Mitsubishi Display Cubes with DLP® technology in a 12x4 array. The wall has the capability to display any of the more than 200 cameras that are located in and around the City of Austin and Travis County. Images presented on the projection array are processed by an Electrosonic VECTOR™ image processor which provides the ability to display 60 single images or spread a single image across multiple screens.

Becase the main wall is located high above the operators, Mitsubishi supplied specially designed and built screens for the higher rows. The screens alter the angle of brightness dispersion so that the upper screens are uniform in brightness to the lower screens, thus providing overall brightness uniformity.

In additional to the main wall, three 2x2 arrays of 50” Mitsubishi cubes were installed below the video wall, on cabinets about five feet off the floor, to support those operators that were positioned too close to the main video wall.
